Effect
Bag Influence is a visually striking magic trick where a playing card instantly transforms into a small bag filled with a mysterious substance—often humorously implied to be something illicit, though performers typically use salt or glitter for legal reasons. The effect is bold, unexpected, and designed to provoke strong reactions, making it ideal for casual or adult-oriented performances. Some versions allow the bag to split into two, with one handed out for examination while the magician retains the other.
Full Details
The trick uses a handmade gimmick incorporating magnets and 3D-printed components to facilitate the seamless change from card to bag. Unlike similar effects (e.g., Card to Condom), Bag Influence keeps the ungimmicked bag in view throughout, eliminating awkward switches. The method relies on subtle black art principles, though reviewers note it’s more forgiving in live performances than on camera.
The gimmick is durable, with replacement bags and salt packets included. Performers can start with the card face-up or face-down, allowing for prediction-based presentations. The tutorial covers multiple handlings, including social media-friendly routines and live performance tips.
Who Should Consider the Trick
Bag Influence suits magicians who:
- Perform in informal settings (bars, parties, adult events).
- Enjoy edgy or humorous magic with a shock-value premise.
- Want a visually impactful trick that requires minimal sleight of hand.
- Appreciate gimmicks designed for real-world practicality.
It’s not recommended for family shows, conservative audiences, or performers uncomfortable with drug-related humor.
Difficulty
The trick is easy to perform, with reviewers like PigCake and Roo noting that the gimmick does most of the work. The handling involves basic misdirection and a simple cleanup, achievable even for beginners. The tutorial includes a quick-start guide, and performers can master the effect within minutes.
What Magicians Say
- PigCake calls it "innovative in a sea of recycled ideas," praising its handmade durability and versatility for party environments. He highlights its ability to fool even a police officer during a demo.
- EverythingMagicPro99 reports it was voted Trick of the Convention at Blackpool 2025, citing its honest marketing and strong audience impact.
- Roo (Roo’s Reviews) emphasizes its practicality: "The gimmick is brilliant—far more involved than you’d believe," and applauds the creators for refining prototypes into a foolproof method.
- Alex Kirk (Monster Magic) notes its risqué appeal but adds, "For the right audience, it’s the biggest laugh you’ll ever get."
Final Thought: Bag Influence is a standout for its bold premise, clever engineering, and real-world usability, though its suitability depends heavily on the performer’s style and audience.

Bag Influence is a visual gag where a playing card transforms into a small bag of 'magic powder' um I say magic powder it obviously hints uh at something else that is up to you whether it fits your style or not it certainly fits um Phil Pearson's style um who came up with the idea um and it is essentially a joke.
PigCake says...
It's rare that we find something Innovative in Magic everything's already been done for any c to any number been there done that out of this world been there done that but if you want the real work now bag influence is a trick where a card turns into a bag of cocaine and maybe splits into two.
RoosReviews says...
The Ultimate Card 2 baggie you take a card you snap your fingers and it changes into a little bag of substances that have not been legally sanctioned by the government obviously this isn't a real bag of cocaine it is just salt salt I know you were as gut as I was right but just some salt and it doesn't have to just be salt you could literally have anything in that bag.
