Effect
Bangarang is a visually striking sandwich effect where a selected card mysteriously appears and vanishes between two Jokers with holes cut in them. The performer shows the two Jokers front and back, proving they are empty, before making a card instantly appear between them. The card then vanishes just as cleanly, leaving the Jokers empty once again. The effect is highly visual and leaves spectators baffled by the impossible appearance and disappearance of the card.
Full Details
Bangarang includes:
- A gimmicked card
- Two regular Jokers with holes cut in them
- A link to downloadable instructions (approximately 30 minutes long)
The instructions cover everything from handling techniques to repairing the gimmick and adapting it for different contexts. The trick is designed for versatility, allowing performers to integrate it into various routines. The reset is instant, making it repeatable for multiple performances.
Who Should Consider the Trick
Bangarang is suitable for a wide range of performers:
- Close-up magicians – Works well in intimate settings with strong visual impact.
- Social media performers – Easy to film with minimal setup.
- Corporate magicians – Can be adapted to business cards for professional settings.
- Mentalists – Adds a visual element to mentalism routines.
- Street performers – Strong angles and quick reset make it ideal for busking.
Scott Perry states, "I recommend everyone buys this—literally everyone. Mentalists, close-up magicians, card magicians, street performers—this is brilliant for absolutely everyone."
Difficulty
The trick is rated as intermediate for live performances but easy for social media use. The basic mechanics are simple, but integrating it smoothly into a live routine requires practice, particularly with card controls and forces if using a full deck.
Craig from Magic TV notes, "The hardest part is not the actual production of the card in between the Jokers—the hardest part is what you're doing with the deck if you're not experienced with card magic."
What Magicians Say
- Scott Perry praises its versatility, saying, "You can adapt this to use business cards, credit cards, or any Jokers from any pack. The possibilities are endless."
- Craig and Ryland from Magic TV give it high ratings (94% and 100%, respectively), calling it "very clean" and "one of the best versions of this plot."
- Nicholas Lawrence (creator) emphasizes its adaptability, teaching multiple handlings for the appearance and vanish.
The trick does have some limitations—the gimmick wears out over time, and the supplied card is always the Queen of Hearts unless modified. However, experienced magicians can create their own gimmicks for different cards.
Overall, Bangarang is a highly recommended trick for its strong visual impact, adaptability, and ease of reset. Whether performing live or on camera, it offers a powerful and baffling effect.

Bangarang by Nicholas Lawrence, a sandwich routine with a vanish between two Jokers, earns 94% from Craig and 100% from Ryland.
monstermagicshop says...
Bangarang is an effect uh essentially a really hyper visual sandwich effect so you have two jokers they both have holes cut in the middle of them and a card visually appears in between them and then you can very fairly show it both sides before it very fairly again disappears.
