Incredible by Christian Grace

Created by: Christian Grace

Incredible by Christian Grace is a modern twist on the classic invisible deck trick, designed for close-up magic. The trick involves a spectator selecting a card, which then mysteriously turns face down in a deck that appears to be all face-up. Unlike the traditional invisible deck, 'Incredible' allows the deck to be examined by removing two special jokers after the trick, ensuring a clean finish. It's easy to perform, with a quick reset, and the deck can be used for other tricks afterward. Additionally, the same setup lets you perform 'Brain Wave,' adding extra value. The trick is part of Christian Grace's new 'Define' series and is praised for its clean handling and versatility.

Effect

The trick Incredible by Christian Grace is a modern take on the classic Invisible Deck effect. To the audience, it appears as though the magician has predicted a spectator’s freely named card. The magician spreads through a deck to show all cards face-up except one. When the spectator names their card, the magician reveals that the single face-down card matches their selection exactly.

Full Details

Incredible solves two key issues with the traditional Invisible Deck:

  • No Deck Switch Needed – Unlike the classic version, you don’t need to switch decks to continue performing other tricks.
  • Examinable Deck – After removing two special jokers, the deck can be handed out for inspection, ending clean.
  • The trick uses a gimmick that can be added to any standard deck, making it highly practical. It also includes a Brain Wave variant as a bonus effect, where a spectator’s freely named card is the only one with a different back color.

    Who Should Consider the Trick

    • Close-up and walk-around performers who want a clean, examinable version of the Invisible Deck.
    • Mentalists looking for a strong prediction effect with psychological depth.
    • Magicians who dislike carrying multiple decks—this allows you to use one deck for multiple routines.

    Difficulty

Intermediate – While the handling is straightforward, the trick involves some audience management and subtle moves. Christian Grace’s detailed teaching covers all nuances, making it accessible for performers willing to practice the presentation.

    What Magicians Say

    • UnbiasedMagicReviews criticizes the trick for being too restrictive, stating that spectators don’t have a true free choice of any card. They prefer other versions like Michael Close’s memorized stack or Gian Carlos Galia’s impromptu method.
    • Ellusionist praises Incredible for its clean handling, quick reset, and versatility, calling it a "streamlined invisible deck" that ends examinable.
    • SebastianToca9208 rates it 6/10, acknowledging its strengths (well-made gimmicks, strong tutorial) but finds the limited card selection a drawback compared to non-gimmicked alternatives.
    • MonsterMagicShop (Alex Kirk) appreciates the psychological presentation, calling it "more like a glass of Fanta than water" due to its engaging process, though he notes the higher price compared to traditional invisible decks.

Overall, Incredible is a strong option for performers who value a clean, examinable deck and don’t mind the slight restrictions in card selection. If complete freedom of choice is a priority, other versions may be preferable.

    sebastiantoca9208 says...

The trick 'Incredible' is marketed as a new version of the invisible deck but has limitations. Pros include a well-made tutorial and durable gimmicks. Cons involve restricted spectator choice and the need for gimmicks.

    UnbiasedMagicReviews says...

This invisible deck type effect was released by Illusionist this past week at Blackpool and they're selling it for $35 they say that it fixes two problems with the classic invisible deck effect which is one that you need to do a deck switch if you want to continue to do tricks and the second problem that you can't hand it out to the spectators now while that is true I feel that this actually causes more problems than Solutions and for that reason I think this is actually incredibly bad.
