Effect

Full Details
The Legacy Book Test applies the Ven principle, a method that allows a spectator to make a seemingly free choice from a limited set of options. Unlike traditional book tests, this version uses cards or pages that the spectator can shuffle and examine, enhancing the illusion of fairness. The effect is self-working, requiring minimal sleight of hand, and can be adapted for close-up or stage performances.
Two versions are available: a Mini size for close-up and walk-around performances and a Pro size for stage use. The cards are durable, well-produced, and designed to prevent any visible markings. The included tutorial explains the basic method but does not provide full routines, leaving performers to develop their own presentations.
Who Should Consider the Trick
This trick is ideal for mentalists and magicians who want a clean, self-working method for word or thought revelation. It suits performers who prefer minimal sleight of hand but enjoy crafting engaging presentations. The Legacy Book Test works in various settings, from close-up to stage, making it versatile for different performance styles.
Difficulty
The Legacy Book Test is easy to perform mechanically, as it requires no advanced sleight of hand. The main challenge lies in constructing a compelling routine and justifying the use of the book or cards in a performance. Performers must develop a strong presentation to make the effect meaningful for the audience.
What Magicians Say
Sebastian Toca describes the Legacy Book Test as a "must-have utility" for mentalists, praising its fairness and versatility. He notes that the spectator can freely mix the cards, making the selection process appear completely random. He rates the effect 10 out of 10, calling it well-produced and fairly priced. However, he mentions that the tutorial is basic, requiring performers to develop their own routines.
Sebastian also highlights the effect's adaptability, suggesting it can be used in routines inspired by Peter Turner's work or as a standalone revelation. He recommends the Mini version for its portability, though the Pro version is suitable for larger performances. Overall, he considers it a superior alternative to traditional Ven pads due to its clean handling and spectator interaction.

I think they are possibly even better than the ven pads because of the nature of it... the fairness of use of this you know the pad you have to flick through you have to have them you know open up whereas here you can basically just dump it on the table say look I want you to mix these up now I want you to just Square them up place the bulldog clip on top and just open up you can literally be hands off which makes it so much cleaner in my opinion.
